A Grain Above
For the 77th week of "7 QUESTION SUNDAY" we shine the spotlight on another influential individual from the PNW. A Grain Above is a family owned custom business bringing favorite designs and custom creations to life for that perfect PNW décor!
4EVRGRN: Hey, AGA! Tell us a little about yourself.
AGA: Hello from Wes and Vanessa Garoutte. We are a small mom and pop, Custom Wooden sign and home décor shop located out of our Garage in Yakima Washington. I, Wes, design the pieces and process them on the CNC and Vanessa, my Wife and CFO (Chief Finishing Officer) does most of the hand painting of the pieces. Nothing makes us happier than to produce a custom piece that our customers will enjoy.
1) How did A Grain Above get started?
AGA: What started as a hobby has developed into a small business providing customized pieces to our customers.
2) What Makes the Pacific NW Unique?
AGA: Having traveled around the country, I believe that the PNW has the best variety of landscape from the towering mountains, the forests, the scarred landscape of the coulees, the rivers, sound, and oceans. All present the beauty of the region.
3) Where is your Favorite Escape in the PNW?
AGA: Living on the West side of Washington for most of our lives, we often liked to escape to the Banks lake area in eastern Washington and escape the more frequent rains of the west side of the state and get some Vitamin D.
4) Best Meal in the PNW?
AGA: Fresh Caught Salmon, Dungeness Crab, or shellfish, perfectly prepared in a number of ways, and enjoyed around a table with Friends and Family.
5) What is the one thing that anyone who visits must see or do?
AGA: Enjoy the beauty of nature in the PNW. There is something to see anywhere you go in the PNW.
6) What do you miss most when you are out of the PNW?
AGA: The towering Douglas fir trees in the forests and the beautiful mountain views including Mount Rainier.
7) Favorite PNW Activity?
AGA: Salmon fishing, Crabbing, or a drive through the countryside.
