For the 203rd week of "7 QUESTION SUNDAY" we shine the spotlight on another influential individual from the PNW. Moe Jamerson better known as Famous is DJ based in Seattle.

4EVRGRN: Hey, F! Tell us a little about yourselves.

F: Alright lets start this off the right way: My name is Miles. When I was 15 a spider bit me and I turned in to this amazing super.. wait wait wait.. wrong story.

My name is Moe. Most know me as Famous. I try my hardest not to brag or talk about myself but lets try it for once:

I currently DJ for MOViN 92.5, the Seattle Mariners, and LTD in Fremont all while maintaining a day job at Boeing AND being an active husband and father. I’ve opened up for 2 Chains, Snoop Dogg, Rodman, A-Trak, London On Da Track, 6lack, Murda Beats, DJ Drama, Sango, LA Leakers, Miles Medina, Jazzy Jeff, Sasha Marie, and so much more. I was named 2018 Best DJ by Seattle Sound Music Awards. I come from the class of DJ’s who take risks and break the rules to help push the culture forward. I started DJ’ing professionally when electronic music was running the Seattle music scene. Owners used to ban DJ’s from clubs because they would play Waka Flocka or anything that was aggressive like that. I went off and did it anyway. It wasn’t the most aggressive songs and I got out of it pretty quick BUT.. I broke the rules and helped push the culture forward.  When I seen the EDM guys standing on the booth above the crowd, I wanted to do that in the hip hop clubs. So I did it. First time was in Tacoma and the crowd went nuts. The owner pulled me in to the office later and told me I couldn’t do that because of insurance liability. Didn’t care. I kept doing it everywhere I went. Confetti in the EDM clubs? I wanted that. So I started going to Party City before the club and getting disposable confetti cannons since I couldn’t afford expensive confetti cannons. That went off. Ski masks in the club? That… didn’t always go so well at first but I’m glad the next generation gets to be as creative and free as they want without having to worry about if the club will every hire them again. I love it.

I also produce and make a ton of remixes. I’m pretty sure I’ve made more Drake remixes than anybody… ever lol

In your words, what makes an exceptional DJ?

F: Playing good music is at the center of it all. You don’t have to be technical. Just play good music. I could talk your ear off on this topic but it all comes back to playing good music.

What initially inspired you to become a DJ, and how has the Pacific Northwest influenced your musical journey?

F: My dad was a battle DJ and still produces music to this day. So all of my first memories are of me in a studio. I always knew I wanted to be a DJ. I’ll be sure to attach a video of me DJ’ing in my dads studio as a young kid. DJ’ing isn’t just some hobby for me. I didn’t wake up one day and decide to try this because it was cool. When all of the kids were saying they were going to be a doctor or an astronaut, I was telling people I was going to one of the best DJ’s in Seattle. And I became that.

PNW influenced my musical journey 100%. I made it a point to stay home and make it here. People always told me I needed to move to LA or NY in order to find success and I refused. My dad found success here doing music as did my godfather, uncle, and several others in my family. As did a lot of my peers.

How would you describe the unique sound and vibe of the Pacific Northwest's music scene compared to other regions?

F: The PNW music scene is legendary. Quincy Jones. Nirvana. Sir Mix A Lot. Gifted Gab. Jarv. Jake One. We don’t cover one sound. Music is really just in our DNA. We cover it all.

Can you share some of your favorite venues or events in the Pacific Northwest where you have performed or experienced exceptional DJ sets?

F: LTD is the best place. Especially every Friday and Saturday.  Also T-Mobile Park whenever MOViN 92.5 has their DJ’s oh and I can’t forget about Forum over in Bellevue! Shoutout to Noah, Vue and Q Nightclub. Those venue’s have shown love to me over the last year or two that we’ve been 100% back open.

Are there any local artists or collectives from the Pacific Northwest that have had a significant impact on your career or influenced your musical style?

I can’t just pick one. I don’t want to leave anyone out lol

What role do you think the Pacific Northwest's music community plays in fostering collaboration, support, and growth among DJs and producers in the region?

Lol it’s very “Mean Girls”. A lot of “You can’t sit with us”. Especially with the DJ’s. I’ll quote Jay-Z and leave it alone: “No sympathy for the King, huh? N**** even talk about ya baby crazy. Eventually the pendulum swings. Don’t forget america, this how you made me”

How do you see the future of the Pacific Northwest's music scene evolving, and what do you hope to contribute to its continued success and innovation?

F: The music scene at least in Seattle is kind of just.. floating. At least from the club POV. Post pandemic its just been weird.
