Goodies for the Girlies

For the 166th week of "7 QUESTION SUNDAY" we shine the spotlight on another influential individual from the PNW. Kennedy Iverson is the owner and creator of Goodies for the Girlies home of cozy chunky knit blankets.

4EVRGRN: Hey, KI! Tell us a little about yourselves.

KI: Hi hi! Goodies for the Girlies is a very small one woman show lil business of mine! My name is Kennedy Iverson and I make chunky knit blankets, which are essentially handmade chenille blankets with the worlds softest yarn. I was in love with these blankets for years and years and decided to finally see if I could give it a go and make one myself. Flash forward one year later and what started as a hobby to keep my mind busy and calm throughout the pandemic, turned into a full-blown business. From one blanket to hundreds this last year has been a whirlwind and I’m excited to create more products and see what other goodies I can hand-knit next!

Why are chunky knits so popular?

KI: Chunky knits are soooo freaking popular and that’s truly because they are VERY luxurious. They are priced high because the quality is even higher. They also are the loudest and coziest statement piece in any room. I’ve never seen someone *not* go crazy over them or ask a million questions when they see them in person for the first time. People are always intrigued and usually end up buying one or multiple.  

What’s been your favorite custom order?

KI: Oh gosh it’s hard to pick! People can get really creative, and I love to make their ideas come to life. My most favorite blanket is probably my Pride chunky. It’s the one I’m most proud of and love making every time an order comes through. It’s a labor of love for sure because it’s time consuming with it being 6 different colors but will always be my personal fav!

Favorite place in the PNW?

KI: Honestly any place there’s bomb food is where I follow. When I’m not slanging blankets, I spend all of my time with my partner and my family! Heading down to Portland to try all the tasty food. Trying new breakfast spots with my girlfriend is our thing. Definitely a big foodie in my spare time! 

What’s your favorite music to listen to while creating?

KI: Oh gosh literally ANYTHING. More so depends on the weather outside and what season we’re in if I’m being completely honest. Fall months I have a lot of T Swifty, winter months a whole lotta Christmas music and during the summer I play a lot of country music and EDM/house. Making blankets can be very cathartic and soothing so most often I need upbeat music so I don’t drift off into sleep..HA!

What’s been your most popular blanket color?

KI: People love neutrals more than anything. Beige and ivory are always the first two colors people gravitate to just because they match with mostly everything in someone’s home. For gifting purposes as well, people always reach for ivory. 

Favorite rainy day PNW activity?

KI: You can find me right on the couch, with my favorite snacks, favorite sweats and some yarn in my hands making a chunky blankie. I’m a true PNW girlie because the rain makes me happiest. 

Favorite local product?

KI: In the last year since being a part of the small business community I’ve met SO SO SO many amazing artists, creators, and rockstars. I don’t necessarily have one favorite local product, but I do have so many favorite local businesses. The Common Theory, The Common Cookie, Stocklist Goods, Wolf Heart Fit Co, Salon Ish, The Little Reason, the list goes on and on! Go support these amazing humans and elevate them!
