Josh Nicholas

For the 115th week of "7 QUESTION SUNDAY" we shine the spotlight on another influential individual from the PNW. Josh Nicholas is a filmmaker who is helping small businesses present their best and PNW enthusiast.

4EVRGRN: Hey, JN! Tell us a little about yourselves.

JN: Hi! My name is Josh Nicholas. I’m an amateur filmmaker, EMT, avid hiker and Pacific Northwest local who enjoys fly fishing, losing myself in the mountains, and enjoys good local grub. I have used my passion for filmmaking to support local businesses and create videos that showcase some of the best small businesses in the Pacific Northwest. If you have a small business and want it showcased for people to see what you’re about, you can reach me through Instagram @pacnw.media or my email pacnw.media@outlook.con

Why filmmaking for small businesses?

JN: I’ve always enjoyed cinematography and filmmaking but never thought about doing commercials or anything like that. Then one day my friend asked me to make a commercial for his business and seeing his reaction to what I created for him ignited a spark in me to start a business doing that for other local businesses that would give them that same joyful reaction.

What is your favorite part about going to businesses to film?

JN: I love being able to be that creative link between a client and the final product of that video. The client shows me a day to day in that business and I’m able to film and take that footage and create something that really shows to people how much work and passion goes into that business or product.

What’s a unique trait of filmmaking in the PNW?

JN: For sure the scenery. I have been blessed to be able to work with businesses all over Western Washington and have filmed areas of Washington I would not have otherwise seen.

Do you have a dream film project?

JN: I would love to dive more into bio documentaries and be able to interview more people and hear their stories about their businesses and their passions.

Best meal in the PNW?

JN: After a long hike in the Olympics, I always stop at The Ritz in Shelton and get a bacon cheeseburger with a peanut butter marshmallow shake. Not a very specific meal to the area but definitely a must if you are out there.

Favorite place to escape in the PNW?

JN: Brown’s Creek or Gray Wolf Trail. I’m a big fan of the upper Cascades, but the Olympics are an hour away and I always can have a quick escape there to de-stress and enjoy the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

Favorite local product?

JN: Lemoncoco! Seattle-based lemon coconut drink that is so refreshing!
