Lawreshia Rankins

For the 126th week of "7 QUESTION SUNDAY" we shine the spotlight on another influential individual from the PNW. Lawreshia Rankins aka SauceBawse is a southern transplant winning over the PNW with her sauces and seasonings.

4EVRGRN: Hey, LR! Tell us a little about yourselves.

LR: I am a devoted and loving wife and mother of 2 children, proud military veteran. Born and raised in Memphis TN, currently living in Washington state for almost 10 years. I’m a Southern Belle! My inspiration for starting Sauce Bawse came after my daughter was diagnosed with Autism and my son with a seizure disorder, I wanted to be home with them to make sure they had the proper care but also to be able to still provide for them. I made my 1st sauce when I was 10 years old, so sauce have always been my specialty.

What's the one sauce the PNW must try from your offerings?

LR: It’s hard to choose between all 11 of my flavors but the Southern Kick is the perfect amount of flavor and heat. Not too hot and just the right amount of flavor.

What makes PNW barbecue unique?

LR: My sauces are not strictly for barbeque and isn't considered a barbeque sauce, but a multipurpose sauce designed to go on all foods. What’s makes it unique is the flavor.

Best advice for other mom's juggling small business and family life?

LR: The best advice I can give other moms juggling a small business is no matter how sales are going ALWAYS STAY CONSISTENT, NEVER GIVE UP! There will be busy weeks and not so busy weeks but always remember nothing great comes without hard work and sacrifice.

How has the PNW embraced your southern style sauce?

LR: The PNW LOVES my sauce. I feel so supported and loved. It melts my heart when people recognize me or my brand and say..."Please try her sauce, it’s amazing"

Best meal you’ve made with your product?

LR: Best meal would have to be my absolute favorite!!! CHICKEN!!!

When you’re not making sauces, where’s your favorite place to escape in the PNW?

LR: My favorite place to escape would probably be anywhere family oriented. So mostly anything I can do with my husband and our children.

What is a PNW activity you enjoy when you need to unwind?

LR: When I need to unwind, I would say simply a massage, pedicure, or simply a little retail shopping always helps me unwind.
