Najiah Knight

For the 123rd week of "7 QUESTION SUNDAY" we shine the spotlight on another influential individual from the PNW. INTRODUCTION. Najiah Knight is a teen bull riding champion from Oregon. Najiah made history in early 2020, when she was the first girl to ride a bull at Madison Square Garden, as part of MBR (Miniature Bull Riders). Najiah has her sights set on being the first female competitor in the Professional Bull Riders (PBR), the world’s leading bull riding organization. Najiah is also a model and uses her platform to showcase her Native culture.

4EVRGRN: Hey, NK! Tell us a little about yourselves.

What do you love most about riding bulls?

NK: I love the adrenaline rush, and I can show people that girls can do everything they want to.

What is the rodeo scene like in the PNW?

NK: Well, we have the Pendleton Round Up, which is one of our biggest rodeos.

What advice would you give to another young person interested in bull riding?

NK: I would say you’ll know what you love doing as soon as you do it.  So, if you find out you love doing something, go for it. Don’t let anyone hold you back from pursuing your passion.

How do you balance bull riding and other activities?

NK: I usually get my homework done before we leave for my rodeos. Or I will get my stuff done immediately after we get back. I will leave and not go to a sports game when I have a rodeo. I choose rodeo over anything else.

Favorite place to visit in the PNW?

NK: My favorite place to visit in the Pacific Northwest is Eugene. I have an aunty I stay with, and it’s beautiful there.

Best meal in the PNW?

NK: Has to be steak. Definitely steak. I eat steak after almost every rodeo.

Favorite local product?

NK: Farm-grown beef. It’s super good, especially long horn.
