4EVRGRN: Hey, GCS! Tell us a little about yourself.

GCS: Hello, we are Grit City Seasons! A new sauce and seasoning company born and raised in Tacoma, WA. Our story began in the Spring of 2020. At this point in time (while we all must stay far apart) we started to question ourselves, what is our part in this community? How can we create something we love and participate? We're a young couple increasingly interested in cultivating a sustainable neighborhood culture. Cooking, grilling, sharing with friends, homesteading, gardening, composting, and shopping locally are some of our biggest passions. Then it clicked... Our way of participating in our community is to lean into our passion for food! 

Now we can add sauce testing and pepper fermentation to our list of favorite ways to hang out and watch the seasons change. Our small batch, quality local ingredients are guaranteed to make you want to stay in and marinade, slather, dip, grill, stir fry and swap recipes with family and friends.

  1. What's the one sauce the PNW must try from your offerings?

Endless Summer BBQ

  1. You just released a BBQ sauce with your hot sauces, what's a unique BBQ trait of the PNW?

There are many BBQ regions in the USA. Texas, Kansas City, and Nashville to name a few. Up here you may find smoked salmon on the menu at a tourist destination. But the pacific north west's nationally acclaimed barbecue is still taking shape. You'll find it at the small Mom & Pop locations with a line around the block. We live in a diverse place with tons of culinary inspiration to draw on! Our Endless Summer BBQ is the perfect balance of smoky, tangy, with a hint of spice, spiked with a lil' something sweet.

  1. What do you miss most when you're outside the PNW?

GCS: Our grill.

  1. Favorite local product?

GCS: Blue Max Meats

  1. Best meal in the PNW? 

GCS: That's really tough! Inchochine, MSM, Red Star, Palace Korean BBQ to name a few.

  1. What’s one thing anyone who visits must see or do? 

GCS: Visit Point Defiance, Titlow Beach, and the murals and public art downtown Tacoma. 

  1. What is a unique PNW activity you enjoy when you need to unwind? 

GCS: Archery, Sarah has a recurve bow and Adrian has a compound bow.
