For the 90th week of "7 QUESTION SUNDAY" we shine the spotlight on another influential individual from the PNW. Only Oat is Tacoma favorite cookie stop in the Point Ruston Public Market serving up delicious cookies with limited ingredients.
4EVRGRN: Hey, OO! Tell us a little about yourselves.
OO: Yep it’s true. An oatmeal cookie is the only cookie I know how to bake! With faith and a passion for creativity and excellence, I pursued the reinvention of a childhood memory — the traditional oatmeal cookie.
From me to you, I give you my gift, a unique and delicious spin on this sweet confection. Enjoy!
1) What is the first thing someone should try from your menu?
OO: Any one of our addictively delicious cookies will be sure to satisfy. I mean, it's what we do!
2) What is your most popular cookie?
OO: Snickerdoodle is by far the favorite, but after that it’s a 3-way tie between Chocolate Chip, Toffee Almond, and Peanut Butter.
3) How does the PNW inspire your flavors?
OO: We are big on community so we are always just trying to think of delicious combinations that everyone will enjoy. A sweet treat pick me up.
4) What inspired to add gluten free and vegan options?
OO: The name Only Oatmeal brought about many questions, but the one question we got the most was, “Are they gluten-free?” This inspired me to swap wheat flour for gf oat flour and once this was successful we realized this would be the key to offering other menu items made with oats like our brownies, cupcakes, and bars. We want everyone to feel valued and to have options. Therefore, decided to also have vegan options and a sugar free cookie that will be on our spring menu.
5) What pairs best with your cookies, coffee or milk?
OO: Definitely think this a personal preference but you can never go wrong with the classic, milk and cookies!
6) What do you like most about being in the Public Market at Point Ruston?
OO: The community aspect of the market. Our market neighbor's are our friends and it's like our own little support system.
7) How do cookies become a creative outlet for you?
OO: The combinations are endless! We get to continuously try out new exciting flavors to expand our customers pallet when it comes to oatmeal cookies.
