PDX Eats
For the 145th week of "7 QUESTION SUNDAY" we shine the spotlight on another influential individual from the PNW. PDX Eats is an IG account featuring the best and tastiest Portland OR has to offer.
4EVRGRN: Hey, PE! Tell us a little about yourselves.
PE: Hello, I’m a Portland food enthusiast exploring Portland one restaurant and bite at a time.
What got you interested in chronicling Portland food?
PE: My interest started years ago when I realized that I had my go-to restaurants that I didn’t stray away from very often. I would also order the same thing at these places because I knew I liked those particular dishes. I started this page as a way to force myself to try all the amazing places Portland and beyond has to offer and to try different cuisines. Once I started to get a little following, I wanted to make sure to highlight and support local restaurants and try to influence others to do the same!
What is your favorite; sweet, savory, sour?
PE: I’ve always been more of a savory person! Even as a kid I was never into sweets all that much. I’d take chips or crackers over candy any day.
Which PNW event space has the best food?
PE: Between the different local vendors and all the PNW beer and wine options that the Moda Center has to offer, I think I’d have to name them as my favorite event space. Providence Park has definitely gotten better over the years also!
Most photo friendly food?
PE: Pizza or nachos. It’s hard to go wrong photographing either of those.
Favorite beverage in the PNW?
PE: Every year I look forward to fresh apple cider in the fall. That’s probably my favorite beverage.
What makes PNW foodie culture unique?
PE: The PNW food culture is unique because so many of the owners and operators of the restaurants and food carts are transplants. They bring with them pieces of their part of the country or the world. This allows foodies, like myself, the perfect place to try it all! The pandemic unfortunately forced many restaurants to go under, but we have so many diverse places to explore and new places open every week! It’s a competitive market, but it’s also a wholesome one. Many restaurants support and partner with others. I think it brings out the best that the PNW has to offer culinarily.
Favorite meal in the PNW?
PE: I get asked this a lot! It’s so hard to answer and it is constantly changing. My answer at the moment would have to be anything the team at Eem is cooking up or the pizza at Fort George in Astoria.
