Sunflower Soul Apothecary

Edit: Sage and Onyx has rebranded to Sunflower Soul Apothecary. This feature has been updated with the new name, contact, and image.

For the 102nd week of "7 QUESTION SUNDAY" we shine the spotlight on another influential individual from the PNW. Lily is the owner of Sage & Onyx, a soapery that keeps you and your pets naturally clean!

4EVRGRN: Hey, Lily! Tell us a little about yourselves.

Lily: Iā€™m Lily, a former U.S Army veteran and Natural Medicine Student. I have experience in Pharmacy and Natural medicine. The love of science and chemistry had me at an early age and I knew I've always wanted to create things that could help people. Using my knowledge and artistic views to create wonderful luxurious products with local, raw and natural ingredients. Offering an array of handcrafted body care products and accessories that will comfort the soul & delight the skin and appeal to the senses.

What is the first item you recommend to people new to your products?

Lily: My soaps! It's truly my favorite thing to make, it's a a form of art for me and how I express myself.

How do you incorporate the PNW into your products?

Lily: Most of my raw ingredients are from local businesses. From ingredients like raw honey, and herbs to packaging. I also do a few landscape soaps of Mt. Rainier.

We love that you have things for pets too, why is it important to include them in your offerings?

I created pet products because of my dog, she was really sensitive to store products so I wanted to create something natural that would help. I included them because they are just as much a part of the family.

Best meal in the PNW?

I honestly couldn't answer that question, although I do enjoy eating out at all types of food trucks and vendors at local markets. That's one of my favorite things about the PNW.

What is your favorite product to create?

Soaps!šŸ„°

How does your love of chemistry and creativity inspire your products?

The simple fact I can take raw materials and create something amazing and custom is what I love. Chemistry taught me a lot about chemical reactions and what ingredients work well with others. It also helps with the safety rules.

Where is your favorite place to escape to in the PNW?

I like to walk or drive out to some place where it's just trees, tall trees and woods. Anywhere with plenty of green grass and tall trees...it's magical to me!
