The Bread DIP Company
For the 162nd week of "7 QUESTION SUNDAY" we shine the spotlight on another influential individual from the PNW. Jim McCaslin is the owner of The Bread DIP Company, making delicious dips for breads, sandwiches, and well, everything!
4EVRGRN: Hey, JM! Tell us a little about yourselves.
JM: I grew up in Fremont, California and attended the University of California, Santa Barbara. I later moved to Melbourne, Australia to become a high school teacher. While there, I was a basketball player in the first division Victorian State League. I have also traveled extensively throughout Asia, Europe, and the South Pacific.
I'm what some may call a serial entrepreneur. I've been a mobile DJ, shoe importer, and owned a video/film transfer business. I got my start in food with the McSweet Pickled Gourmet business and continued down that path when I purchased The Bread Dip Company in 2013.
What is your most popular Bread Dip flavor?
JM: Artichoke & Caper
What makes food culture so unique in the PNW?
JM: We have a plethora of young, smart foodies who are entrepreneurs and a broad diversity in global tastes and cultures.
Bread Dip is a family recipe, how did you decide to take it retail?
JM: I bought the company from the founders who were successful caterers in San Diego. They made the dips as fresh appetizers for their clients and eventually decided to make non-perishable versions to help expand their reach.
Favorite way to eat Bread Dip?
JM: I like to use the bread dips with my omelets and fresh veggies.
Favorite local product?
JM: Bob’s Red Mill Oatmeal
