Totally Novel

For the 75th week of "7 QUESTION SUNDAY" we shine the spotlight on another influential individual from the PNW. Samantha Breider is the creator of Totally Novel an online community for writers that features exclusives webinars, tips, and interaction and advice from published authors!

4EVRGRN: Hey, SB! Tell us a little about yourself.

SB: Hey everyone! My name is Sam and I created Totally Novel. I am a writer, an avid reader, a lover of social media & above all a net-worker. When I first started writing, there was this lovely community on G+. Then, it got closed down and everyone scattered to obscure corners of the internet. Late last year I decided to do something about it. I took the two things I loved the most (writing & connecting people) and created this website, Totally Novel! I am excited to work on new features, curating content that is helpful, and bringing together experts to help you on your writer's journey. My goal is to become the best platform for writers. I want a one-stop-shop kind of place that is easily searchable and provides undeniable value. If there are things you'd like to see or have on the site, reach out! I would love to hear your ideas and see what's possible.

Enough about me, let's get to the good stuff! Become a member today to check out all the cool things Totally Novel is doing. I cannot wait to connect!

1) Best PNW childhood memory?

SB: Roller skating first at TLC in Kent, then Skate King in Bellevue. I am so bummed so many rinks are closing – I still have and use my quads!

2) Favorite PNW season?

SB: 100% Fall. We have one of the best there is – beautiful colors, tons of drizzle, and sweater weather!

3) Wildest PNW experience?

SB: Bridge and cliff jumping at Lake Cushman. There are tons of good spots for every comfort level!

4) Best misconception you’ve heard about the PNW?

SB: That we’re all techies. Of course, it’s becoming truer, but I grew up on a farm only 20 minutes from Seattle. There’s so much country and backwoods here. People are always surprised when I tell them that there are plenty of people who live off-grid a stone’s throw from the big city. Born and bred Washingtonians have a bit of a wild west mentality because most of our childhoods were very much that way! Also, the “hipster” lumberjack look was never a fashion statement. A lot of our families were loggers and that’s, well, just how they look.

5) One thing you want the world to know about the PNW?

Once you live here, it’s hard to leave.

6) Favorite random PNW fact?

SB: Did you know we have an exact replica of Stonehenge? It’s located near the small town of Maryhill and it has a pretty interesting history. It’s beautiful and well worth checking out if you’re in town!

7) One thing every PNWer does that you refuse to do?

SB: Socks and sandals, definitely socks and sandals.
