Two Bored Girls
For the 140th week of "7 QUESTION SUNDAY" we shine the spotlight on another influential individual from the PNW. Sara Bedard is the co-owner of Two Bored Girls who combined crafting friendship with business.
4EVRGRN: Hey, SB! Tell us a little about yourselves.
SB: My name is Sara, and I am the co-owner of Two Bored Girls. My best friend and I were bored one day and were talking about how we enjoyed making things and at the same time we both shouted that we should start a small business. It was fate! When I am not doing crafts, I enjoy listening to podcasts, taking care of my cats and baking. I am a 3X cancer survivor and that has taught me that life is too short not to do what you want and that you should always go for it! When I met Renee and we came up with the idea for the business I knew that we would have fun with it.
Favorite item to make?
SB: I enjoy making jewelry and candles. Jewelry is nice because you get to work with your hands and candles are nice as they make your entire place smell lovely.
How did you decide to turn craft night into a business?
SB: We make so many things that we wanted a way to share them with everyone but also be able to fund being able to make more.
Favorite place to escape in the PNW?
SB: I love Lincoln City. The sound of the waves, the ocean air and the Fry bread at the casino is to die for!
Favorite local PNW business?
SB: I am partial to 4EVRGRN or would that be biased. :p
How does the PNW inspire you?
SB: The beauty that we have here is magical and unlike anywhere else. You go to the eastern side and plains and mountains. You come to the western side and its ocean and greenery. It's absolutely gorgeous here.
What makes craft culture in the PNW so unique?
SB: You can go to any town in WA or OR and see the craft culture is so unique here. We love our artists and our land. Woodwork or pottery, jewelry, and even clothes it's all unique to us. The rich greens featuring the lovely Evergreen, the deep blues embodying the beautiful ocean, it's yours and its mine.
Favorite place to hang with friends in the PNW?
SB: I love going to the Vancouver WA waterfront and enjoying a bite to eat and watching the boats go by! If you haven't been down, there you absolutely need too!
