Zyon Vaughn-Nobles
For the 116th week of "7 QUESTION SUNDAY" we shine the spotlight on another influential individual from the PNW. Zyon Vaughn-Nobles is a breakout youth football star from Everett, WA.
4EVRGRN: Hey, ZVN! Tell us a little about yourselves.
ZVN: My name is Zyon Vaughn-Nobles. I am 16 years old. I am a sophomore at Zephyrhills Christian Academy. I have been playing football since I was 5 years old. Currently I play both sides of the ball, Dline and Tight End. I have a 3.5 GPA and aspire to be a Battalion fire chief.
What are your long term football goals?
ZVN: I would love to play professionally in the NFL, however my focus right now is using my football skills to help me get higher education and earn a college degree. Also to be able to teach younger guys the game and be sure that I can influence the guys after me.
What is your favorite part about playing football in the PNW?
VZN: My favorite part about playing football in the PNW is the weather. I enjoy playing in the rain and early morning fog. Currently I’m playing down south and adjusting to the humidity and high temperatures make me miss home a little.
Who is your greatest football influence?
ZVN: That’s hard to answer. My many coaches, my mom’s and mentors but I believe players had the biggest influence on me. The two that stand out most are Lawrence Taylor and Reggie White. I try to model my game after those guys. The technique and tenacity that they have are huge parts of my game now.
What lesson have you learned on the field that has helped you in your off the field life?
ZVN: Playing football has allowed me to learn the value of working hard to achieve a goal. It has taught me that you have to be a good follower/teammate to be a GREAT leader. Football has helped me to develop a brotherhood that stretches far past the gridiron. Football has also taught me to never get down on yourself. You can always get back up and be better for it. And lastly you can never define a man by their past. Because their present and future can always turn around.
Best meal in the PNW?
ZVN: The PNW has the best teriyaki chicken spots. Oishi’s in Everett is my favorite.
Favorite place to have fun in the PNW?
ZVN: I like to spend time with my friends so I have to say Jackson Park. I’ve got a lot of memories there and that’s where I played a lot of football.
What is most important to you as a student athlete?
ZVN: Being a student athlete to me means focusing on School first, making sure my grades are good and I’m doing well in my classes. Secondly, taking care of my physical health and body and lastly my mental health so that I can stay focused and be the best me I can be in class and on the field.
